The Ball Estate Project

A Legacy Property in Alamo

Alamo, California

One of the most storied properties in Alamo, the Ball Estate has served as the backdrop for generations of community gatherings—from charitable picnics, teas, and fashion shows to elegant evenings spent dining and dancing beneath the stars. Most notably, it was the beloved family home of Dorothy and Gordon H. Ball, who raised their five children on this remarkable estate after purchasing the property in 1946.

The property dates back to 1912, when Walter Arnstein, developer of the Oakland and Antioch Railroad, commissioned architect Arthur Brown Jr. to design the home. Brown later became known for projects including San Francisco City Hall and Coit Tower.

Situated at the end of Camille Avenue on Alamo's coveted west side, the estate enjoys close proximity to the Iron Horse Trail, Round Hill Country Club, and Alamo's charming collection of restaurants and boutiques. Offering a rare balance of convenience, privacy, and historic significance, the Ball Estate is poised to welcome its next chapter.

Casey Howard Interior Design was invited to collaborate on the presentation of this historic property, curating luxury furnishings and styling in partnership with Vesta Home. Our goal was to celebrate the home's remarkable history while layering in our signature collected aesthetic, creating a thoughtful balance between preservation, modern livability, and a distinctly CHID point of view.
